Dear Brothers,

(Psalm 18:28-30 NKJV)
28 For You will light my lamp; The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
29 For by You I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall.
30 As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

A few observations:

  1. God comes first in our life (verse 28). He is it that through the blood-bought salvation lightens our lamp and makes light in our spiritual darkness. At our rebirth, God did the greatest wonder we can ever imagine, bringing us out of the spiritual death and summoned spiritual live into our hearts. Can you even imagine a greater miracle than that? I can and will not because for this miracle to happen, Gods Son had to die to make a path through the Red Sea so that the Egyptian forces of sin would drown there and God’s people were led out of their captivity.
  2. Christ goes before us and destroyed the enemy (verse 29). He bore God’s wrath and made peace between Him and us and destroyed the power of sin. And now we can run up against whatever troop and leap over whatever wall we are facing. Do not forget the spiritual reality of this verse. We can fight our archenemy the devil, the world and our own flesh and be sure of the victory. Do not forget the present reality. With God we are able to mentor even more students than we have ever imagined. With God we are able to minister within our marriage, our family, our church and do the impossible. I have heard and read testimonies of men and women who have done what was thought impossible. Not in their own strength, but in God’s strength.
  3. God’s Way is perfect (verse 30)! Never forget that. We have the bible, the perfect Word of God. In this Word we hear God talk to us and His way is perfect. Just study it, think about it and apply it to our lives and we will be walking in the Way’s of the Lord. We are following the footsteps of Christ and we are on our way to Heaven! Just think of it, we do not need the ‘pop-up-psychology’ or what is felt to be good or wrong, we have the word of God which is perfect and flawless.
  4. God’s Word is proven (verse 30)! And the proof is Christ. Christ has fulfilled the Word, Christ is the Word and Christ has lived the Word. His life, suffering, crucifixion, burial and resurrection are fact’s that have proved to be true. It is these fact’s together with belief that has changed our lives! Believe on the Lord, believe on Christ. See your Saviour living His life, hanging and dying on the Cross, and see Him in all His glory when He was resurrected from the dead and how He ascended to God waiting for the moment of His return to judge the living and the dead! Bow before such a Master, such a Saviour and praise and exalt Him.
  5. God is our shield when we trust in Him (verse 30). Put your trust in Him and in no one and nothing else. He alone is God. He alone is all wise. He alone is Sovereign. He alone is Lord and Master of the World. He alone has planned such a great salvation so that His name would be over all this world.

+ + +Oh, what a great God that we serve:

Enlighten my darkness
Run against a troop
Leap over a wall
Have His shield about us when we place our Trust in Him!

Those are action words!
Have a blessed day in the Lord!
